How Dungeons and Dragons is endorsing the darkest parts of the RPG community
Note: The people named in this article have a history of harassing their critics. As such I have chosen to keep my sources and any traceable information they have given me anonymous to protect them.
Three weeks ago the 5th edition of Dungeons and Dragons came out. D&D is the iconic tabletop role playing game, so a new edition is a big deal. It’s one of the few times that the small, insular pen and paper community gets noticed by the rest of the world. Many game websites have talked about it, notably Polygon’s piece on gender inclusive language. Yet at the same time as D&D tries to appeal to those outside the gender binary, it has been driving them away by employing two of the most toxic personalities in tabletop gaming.
Wow. These dudes sound pretty gross.

Ok, so apparently #Zebra brush pens are fucking rad. Decided to do a test on a pencil sketch I had of Caroline, the newly introduced character in the comic. The resistance on these pens are just perfect. It’s like a cross between what you’d want a Wacom tablet stylus to output digitally, and a level of control you wish you could have with brush inking. #ink #comic #art #timetraveler #trainhopper #punk #asymmetrical #bandana #gauge #piercing #tanktop

Harbor Police arrested a 29-year-old man early Sunday morning, July 27th in a hotel at 333 West Harbor Drive. He was booked into San Diego County Jail at 11:20 am on charges of sexual contact with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of minor. The victim, a juvenile female, was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. The Harbor Police Investigations Unit is handling the incident. This investigation is ongoing.
HE HAS BEEN ARRESTED.
For those who don’t know what has been happening,
According to the girl’s mother, her injuries are severe, and indicate a vicious beating. Here is the account of what occurred from Tumblr:
IF YOU WENT TO SAN DIEGO COMIC CON OR KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS, PLEASE READ.
One of my dearest friends was found on the side of the road, unconscious and bloody. She was wearing this cosplay on the day it happened. She was last seen with friends when she ran off after a disagreement. Please, please, please, if you have ANY information or saw her anywhere, contact her mother. The full information is down below. This isn’t okay and it’s sickening to know that this happened at a place people truly can enjoy themselves. Please spread the word.
”I just received a call from the San Diego Police Department and my daughter REDACTED aka REDACTED was found on the side of the road covered in blood with no ID unconscious. They are unsure what happened to her. My husband is on his way to the police station and then the hospital. If you have any information on what happened to her please send me a facebook message or call me at REDACTED. Thank you in advance”. -REDACTED
Remember when SDCC said they didn’t want to make their anti-harassment policy clear because it would make it seem like there was a problem? (more)
well too fucking bad, now it REALLY looks like you have a problem, you fucks.
Oh shit. The they found the motherfucker.

I’M FUCKING SCREAMING OMGGGGGG THE TIME HAS COME FOR THE 90S TO ROMANTICIZED BY NON-90S KIDS FUCK
I feel like a legend.
The early 2000’s..that’s what this person wants…not the 90’s
Well SHIT thanks for making me feel OLD.
sweet merciful jesus
none of this is accurate or real
Thaaaaaaat’s hilarious. Because none of this is accurate. At all. What happened to the 90’s/2000’s kids that were around a few years ago that romanticized the 80’s? Are we really doing this right now? Are we really romanticizing the 90’s as if they were the “grundge/punk” years? It was a facet, but not any more than they are now.

Why I Fucking Love Teenage Girls (A Personal Essay from an Almost Adult)
A few months ago, I went to a big family gathering at my grandparents’s house and ran into a cousin of mine. She seemed much older than the last time I had seen her (oh, the passage of time), so I asked her what age she was. She replied, “Oh, I’m fifteen.” And my immediate reaction?
“Oh my god,…
I hadn’t seen this essay before now, but it’s important. As a straight male who enjoys women in fiction (and subsequently writing/illustrating women in fiction), the subject of “being” a girl is something I’ve always known I can’t or won’t ever be able to replicate, no matter how much empathy or observation I throw at it.
But aside from my own personal, perhaps detached/analytical, reflection on this, it illustrates and reveals the psychological discharge and retention that society throws at girls from a young age. Puberty, as a period of time in one’s life, is pretty fucked no matter the sex of the person, but it’s the cultural and societal weight that burdens in a way that’s perhaps more difficult to protect from.
The author herself obviously suffered from some unique variables that makes this experience stand out, but bits and pieces of it can be seen repeated like a clone stamp across the internet and places like Tumblr.
What’s important, to repeat the end of her essay, is that we have an (adult) society that relishes in blaming young girls, or pointing at young girls, for their behavior without being able to cut away and understand why the behavior exists (truly). It likes to point at it as the downfall of modern culture, while failing to identify that it’s a symptom, not the disease.
In ways, its a failure of adults and parenthood. It’s a failure of remembering what it meant to be young, not in energy, but perception and reality. Its a sentiment I remember holding so strongly as a child, holding it in a death grip, in fear that I’ll forget as an adult, realizing how fleeting memories could be.
Adults like to say that shit’s harder as an adult than they are as a kid; that kids have it so easy. They like to displace guilt onto kids. They tell kids they shouldn’t feel so bad; they tell kids that their feelings are wrong, because the adult’s feelings are more important and “real.” They do this in blindness, forgetting what it meant to be a kid, and for the world to be a place where you have no power, and everything’s fucking hard.
I’ve gone into a tangental rant, but it’s in the same vein, I think. We shouldn’t forget our pasts, but we wouldn’t feel sane if we couldn’t.

Janet van Dyne, a founding member of the Avengers and the person who gave it its name, appears to have been erased from the MCU. Not in the roster when Avengers came out back in 2012, Jan was set for another opportunity to be a part of the team when Marvel announced Ant-Man. Unfortunately, from the announcements yesterday, Jan van Dyne was not even mentioned but someone else was: Hope van Dyne, later corrected to “Hope Pym”, Hank Pym’s daughter.
At best, Jan will either be a mention or a cameo or an easter egg. She will not be a part of the team she founded, she will not be a superhero. She’s either been swapped out for Hope Pym, who might take up the mantle because Marvel Studios thinks women are interchangeable, or she will be an easter egg at most.
Janet van Dyne, the heart and soul of the original Avengers and of every Avengers team she’s been on throughout the years, has been erased from the MCU.
If that seems like a fucking shitty thing for Marvel to do to you, we’re tweeting out in the #JanetVanCrime hashtag. you can join us and stand up to yet another fucking erasure of a female character. Keep an eye on the #janetvancrime tag on tumblr for panels, livestreams, and links. Please don’t stay silent about this.
You can watch the Ant-Man panel here.
While I get all of this the problem can be summed up in one word: Mutant. Janet is a mutant and the Mutants belong to FOX.
1) that hasn’t stopped them from putting the maximoff twins in the new movie and 2) her being a mutant comes from the ultimate series, not the originals, where her powers come from pym particles aka where hank pym gets his powers
(While I honestly don’t care enough about the Big Two’s canon, this seems interesting. Who knows! Maybe we’ll see some hint of her in Agent Carter or something.)

i was trying to find a brush i felt emulated manga lines and i couldn’t find anything so i screwed around and did my own. >.>
It’s pretty simple — no special textures or anything other than the settings you see.
- Don’t worry too much about line weight via pressure**. If it happens, it happens, but with this brush the line weight is best added in manually by going over your lines repeatedly until they’re thicker (or lessened via trimming the edges of the lines with a low opacity, soft edge eraser brush).
- ** That said, please make sure that pen pressure is on for best effects.
- For the most part, don’t use the stabiliser. That manga-y look is much better rendered when you have those little wobbly imperfections.**
- ** If you think your lineart is too wobbly, make sure you are using fast, short movements instead of trying to force your hand to not wobble. Using the stabiliser should be okay for those long, long lines but be sure to adjust your line weights without it on.
- Feel free to adjust how hard or soft you have to press with this brush, and feel free to adjust size, but the harder you have to press / the smaller the brush is, the better the results.
